Studio Portraits
In the first photo, the light source is from the right, shining on the right side of the model's face. The lighting creates a dramatic shadow that illuminates half of the face and the other side of the face seems to disappear into the black background. The model is faced forward looking down, only showing the shoulders to head and this creates a curious mood. The photo was taken from straight on, at a fair distance, horizontal. The expression of this photo is not quite happy, but not quite sad. The emotion seems thoughtful.
In the second photo, the light source comes from the right, shining on the right of the model's face as well. There is a shadow on the left of the model's face, and also the white background creates shadows, mostly on the left where there is much less light. The model is situated directly facing forward and looking forward but her face is mostly covered by a book. The focus is on the book and small part of the face the viewer can see. The position is horizontal, point of view is from straight on, and there is a fair distance between the camera and model. The expression is amusing for this photo, and the books adds to that expression.
The two photo's have a different feeling because of the way the models are positioned differently, and with the props that are used.

Family Portrait- Elderly, Children, or Pets
For this assignment, I chose to photograph my cat, Penny. She is only a few years old and has many different personalities that include her silly side and serious side. Most point of views are from above while others are from far away or straight up close. The settings of all my photos are around my house, but mostly in my room where my cat likes to roll on my floor. To capture her moving, a fast shutter speed was used so Penny wouldn't come out blurry. There are two pictures where my cat is playing with an object, the pink string and my gray cardigan that show a playful personality. Other pictures where she is laying on blankets, shows her calm side and the photo with Penny sitting on the ledge communicates a mischievous side because her eyes seem to appear like they are glowing and that is the effect of the flash used on my camera. The images successfully demonstrate all the personalities of my cat and how she acts on almost a daily basis.
Self Portraits
The three self portraits on the bottom row were all taken with a self timer. I set the camera on a chair in my room and then ran in front of the camera to capture myself. The location of all the photos were in my room near my door and closet to make a background that wasn't too busy. The time of day were all in the afternoon after school, or on the weekend. The first photo on the left of the bottom row I chose to photograph myself looking at a picture of my favorite band, Paradise Fears because they are a big part of my life. The middle photo on the bottom row is me in my point shoe and a normal shoe; this photo is something I have seen before with the two different shoes to show two different personalities so I decided to try my own. The last photo on the bottom row s of me with my legs resting in my closet door and that is just me kind of thinking because I think a lot about things. The shutter speeds were all fast do I could quickly take the photo. I also chose to put some photos in black and white so the colors were not too busy and the photos were simplified. My photographs successfully demonstrate the things in my life that I mostly do, and give a viewer a little background on me.
