The photographer I chose to emulate was Lissy Laricchia. Lissy is from a small town in Canada and has been doing photography since age 13 as an art. Lissy is just an artist and does not use her photos for any commercial purposes. She mainly photographs, abandoned houses, ballet, and magical things including stars, apples, tea parties and levitation. I chose this photographer because she was suggested to me and I really loved her subject of forests, ballet and magic.
To emulate this photo I stood outside in my backyard with my platter tutu from dance and just posed like the real photo and art directed my friend Stacia to take the photo. The mood is much lighter than the real photo because the photo I took was much brighter than the original and the colors are not all the same as in the original. The photo I took has light coming from the back and there is lots of contrast between my tutu and the rest of the surroundings. The photograph is in focus because the shutter speed was fast and the depth of field was large.
The camera angle was from straight on and the photograph is balanced because it's symmetrical. The rule of thirds applies because the foreground is just grass, I'm in the middle and the branches are in the background. The focal point , which is myself and my tutu are very evident and the background is not very distracting. The photo's vertical direction is effective because it frames me and follows the original photo's direction. Depth is created by using the foreground and how my feet are shown but not until a ways into the photo. The strongest leading line is the circle of my tutu and it really draws attention to the center of the photo.
This photo is interesting because the viewer may ask why there is a girl outside in her clean, nice tutu. The mood and impact of this photo is different, and sort of like not caring about the world around you. This photo is more like the style of Lissy's work, I tried to make the photo look as much as I could to the original photo but there are some differences.
