Line and Shape
For these pictures, three were taken outside in the morning, and three were taken of the school on a cloudy day. At home, I chose to find things in nature to be my subjects for line and shape. In school I tried to target sharper edges and defined lines. I tried to get close enough to the pictures to see the line and shape. The point of views that the pictures were taken of, were not straight on. The angles were mostly from above, a ground view, or a side view. The pictures were all horizontal. I did try to consider the rule of thirds in the nature pictures, but was just thinking of interesting subjects for the pictures taken at school. The picture that is a dynamic composition is the yellow flowers because the large flower in the left hand corner attracts the viewer's attention with the thin petals and bright colors and the stems and other flowers below lead the viewer's eye through the picture which creates a sense of depth.
Pattern and Texture
For most of my photos, I chose to photograph nature because the patterns and textures are so natural and more organic than man made objects. No picture has a very close up distance and the angles for these photos are from above, below or straight on. I tried to fill the frame of the compositions and for all the photos, the subjects travel beyond what the camera could capture. The only picture I considered the rule of thirds on was the railing picture. Although, all the rest of the photos seem to work with the rule of thirds. The photo that creates a dynamic composition to illustrate pattern is the pumpkin picture. The pumpkins repeat and cluster more to the back of the photo, so they go from gradual to filled creating movement to direct the eye backwards. The boards underneath create a pattern because they are in rows. Texture of the photo would be the smooth look of the pumpkins and the rough look of the ground, boards underneath and stems of the pumpkins.
Movement
The picture of my little brother on the top row of photos was used with a fast shutter speed. The shutter speed used was 1/800 or 1/1200. On my point and shoot camera, I was on the action setting to capture my brother in the air. When taking the picture of my brother jumping, I told him to move around in the air so his body was not straight. The distance was a decent amount away, and he is a little above where the camera was. Tools that strengthen the photo are the strong contrast between the warm colors in the background and my brothers clothes which are cool colors and are much darker, so he stands out. Also, he is in midair and the picture came out very clear, so that creates interest as well. The rule of thirds is present with the foreground in the first third, then my brother's legs in the second third, and most of his body being in the last third of the photo going from bottom to top.
The picture that used a slow shutter speed was the orange and yellow leaves. The shutter speed used on this photo would be 1/40 with a tripod. This was taken with one of the school cameras, so it was on setting "S", and taken with the other appropriate settings as well. The hands, and leaves show blur while the background is in focus. The blur makes the leaves blend together and make mostly one color but hints of other colors can be seen too. The distance taken for this photo was pretty close, and the point of view was straight on.The tools used to strengthen the photo are the brightness of the leaves, on the bland background of bricks, which creates contrast. Also, the viewer can see lines from how the leaves were shook back and forth, and there are hints of the sun's rays and spots captured too.
The three pictures on the last row were from the summer, and demonstrated motion so I threw them in for fun!

Painting with Light
The photos with painting with light were my favorites. The first picture starting from the top left, I used a green finger light to make the heart shape and the swirls, the next picture to the right was made by the red string of lights. The picture with three different lights was made by using the red string of lights, the string of white skulls, and the white finger light. The next picture was made with the red finger light , and on the bottom row first picture on the left was made with the red string of lights with the white finger light. The picture next to that one was made with the white skulls and the last picture that looks like a wizard was made with the white finger light.
One photo that stands out to me is the photo with all the red/orange circles. The shutter speed used with this photo was ten seconds. The light source used to make this was the red sting of lights, as said above. To achieve this image, the red string of lights was spun in a circle repeatedly for the whole ten seconds. This photo has the impact of mesmerizing the viewer. The viewer could feel hypnotized by the circles going around and around.
